Safeguarding

Safeguarding and the Welfare of Children – A Priority for Everyone within the School Community:

  • Whole School – Senior Designated Safeguarding Lead – Mrs Rebecca Joyce
  • Key Stage One – Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead – Mrs Clare Smith
  • FS2 – Designated Safeguarding Lead – Mrs Deborah Wood
  • Key Stage Two – Designated Safeguarding Lead – Mrs Claire Webb

Children should be safe and secure both at home and school. Mornington maintains a child protection policy and follows all the local & national guidance relating to safeguarding children. The child protection officer for the school is the Headteacher.

All staff, have taken training in the signs of child abuse and in the procedures that should be followed in cases of abuse. It is the Headteacher’s duty to refer suspicions of abuse to Social Services and she will then work with them, and other professionals, to achieve the safety of the child(ren) concerned.

The School Policy for Safeguarding is updated in line with Local Authority Guidance and Regulations on an annual basis and approved by the School Trust & Governing Body.

  • All staff receive regular training around safeguarding from the local authority.
  • Designated persons receive updates to training every 2 years.
  • An Annual Safeguarding Audit is carried out by the Governors.
